Alexander Technique for Seniors - olli@csulb - Fall 2024

  • Signal Hill Community Center (map)

An introductory course for seniors 50 years+.

This experiential class will give you the opportunity to slow down and come back to yourself. We’ll gently explore our own habitual physical and mental responses by way of simple, everyday movements (i.e. sitting, standing, walking, lying down). Join us to learn the foundations for improving posture and balance while reducing stress and tension. We will delve into:

- An introduction to the principles of the Alexander Technique

- Increasing body awareness and awareness of the self as a whole and of habitual patterns of tension

- Experimenting with tools for improved physical coordination, relaxation & stress reduction

Presented by the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at CSULB in cooperation with Signal Hill Senior Services
